Fic: Across the Divide (Katie/Marcus) *Adult*

Title: Across the Divide
Author: [livejournal.com profile] idea_of_sarcasm
Rating: NC-17
Pairing(s): Katie Bell/Marcus Flint
Summary: As Voldemort gains power, Katie and Marcus start to learn there is more to life than Quidditch
Disclaimer: I'm not JK Rowling, nor anybody associated with the production and ownership of her work.
Warning(s): Language and sexual content
Author's Notes: Written for [livejournal.com profile] kereia in the [livejournal.com profile] smutty_claus exchange. I should probably wait until a different time to post it around...but well, I'll forget :) Posted to my entirely free new geocities account as it is too long for a single post, and too awkward to break up into proper word counts, ha. There were other places I was going to take this fic, but if certain people on my f-list were going to actually read this pairing in the exchange, it would have had a few too many 'tells'.

Also to fulfill the prompt of 'effect of impact on stationary objects' in my much forgotten [livejournal.com profile] 7spells table.

Guh. I loved it. I loved every word. Your Marcus is just so damn perfect. That gruff affection, the denials...

I want Marcus!

I really really loved that. Marcus/Katie remains one of those not-so-guilty pleasures, the hate-to-love-you, love-to-hate-you intensity is so sexy between a gruff bastard and a tough, spirited woman. :) But besides that character dynamic (which you did wonderfully) I think what sucked me into this was the urgent sense of how high the stakes are for them. Nothing of the danger and shittiness of choices made in war was glossed over and actually that made it romantic to me despite the unsentimental tone; how it really drove home that what he was risking for her, what they were risking together. It made my mind pick up the threads at the end and spin on, really hoping for them that they'd make it, that perhaps he'd have to go underground or she'd clear his name after the war ... and that's an awesome thing about a fic, when it engages your imagination that way. :)

I have been searching each one of the known sites of Marcus /Katie and , believe me, it's been difficult to find anything new, complete and good. My favorites are on hiatus (at least I hope they are only on hiatus, like Detained)so, when after months ( since the begnning of september) I found something new on Marcus Flint/ Katie Bell live-journal I hardly believed.
Your fic was great, very well written, and its good to see one of my favorite pairs in action again.
Is it too much to ask for more?

brilliant

I'm so glad a knew Marcus/Katie fic is up! I have been searching the net for new stories. I really love your version of Marcus and Katie. Their characters were perfectly rounded and consistent. It really was brilliant. Wish youll write another story of them soon. :)

Well, I stumbled across this story when I found a link to it from a search for Marcus/Katie sites. I really enjoyed it. All the relationships were complex and believeable. One of my favorite parts was that moment between Angelina and Fred, so sweet and beautiful (thanks for not killing Fred btw). I like how Marcus and Katie have a similar moment at the end. Thanks for writing this!

Hiya. I just came across a rec for this story on crack_broom, and despite never having read a Katie/Marcus story before, I gave it a shot and really loved it. In fact, I liked it so much that I'm going to be adding it to my multi-fandom recs page (http://beth-h.mrks.org/Recs.html) when I next update. Excellent work!

I came here by way of a crack_broom recommendation, and ended up staying on your livejournal four hours, reading your stories. This has to be my favorite, though - it was my first Katie/Marcus fic, and you won me over to this pairing entirely. I *love* your Katie, and love your Marcus even more - stoic and unemotional and sometimes mean, and in love with Katie... my only complaint is that the story ended too soon. Thank you for such a wonderful read! I hope you don't mind if I friend you - I would love to read more of your work.

BRILLIANT. I loved it. Such a delicious, long, slow building story...with neither the war nor the romance out shadowing each other...and all the characters that you so wonderfully fleshed out. I wish there was more. Great job!

Well.. Just read through this one as well! :) Loved it to pieces! I really liked how you did Marcus! I had never read any fics where he is one of the main characters, so it was very refreshing! Thanks for the read!
