Fic: Across the Divide (Katie/Marcus) *Adult*

Title: Across the Divide
Author: [livejournal.com profile] idea_of_sarcasm
Rating: NC-17
Pairing(s): Katie Bell/Marcus Flint
Summary: As Voldemort gains power, Katie and Marcus start to learn there is more to life than Quidditch
Disclaimer: I'm not JK Rowling, nor anybody associated with the production and ownership of her work.
Warning(s): Language and sexual content
Author's Notes: Written for [livejournal.com profile] kereia in the [livejournal.com profile] smutty_claus exchange. I should probably wait until a different time to post it around...but well, I'll forget :) Posted to my entirely free new geocities account as it is too long for a single post, and too awkward to break up into proper word counts, ha. There were other places I was going to take this fic, but if certain people on my f-list were going to actually read this pairing in the exchange, it would have had a few too many 'tells'.

Also to fulfill the prompt of 'effect of impact on stationary objects' in my much forgotten [livejournal.com profile] 7spells table.

I really really loved that. Marcus/Katie remains one of those not-so-guilty pleasures, the hate-to-love-you, love-to-hate-you intensity is so sexy between a gruff bastard and a tough, spirited woman. :) But besides that character dynamic (which you did wonderfully) I think what sucked me into this was the urgent sense of how high the stakes are for them. Nothing of the danger and shittiness of choices made in war was glossed over and actually that made it romantic to me despite the unsentimental tone; how it really drove home that what he was risking for her, what they were risking together. It made my mind pick up the threads at the end and spin on, really hoping for them that they'd make it, that perhaps he'd have to go underground or she'd clear his name after the war ... and that's an awesome thing about a fic, when it engages your imagination that way. :)

I'm so glad that you both read and liked this :) That dynamic is something I'm a sucker for, and I wasn't sure if I was able to pull it off successfully; the romance too, I can't picture them as a "I wuff you" sort of couple, so in writing I found it a struggle to portray actual affection in circumstance and acts more than words. Basically what I'm saying, is I'm very glad you enjoyed this :) Thank you for reading (this rather massive fice) and the feedback!
